Comanchero charged over alleged Lamborghini plot

A Comanchero outlaw bikie and his nephew have been charged over an alleged extortion attempt involving a Lamborghini, a court has been told.

Ahmad Niazi, 49, and Fardeen Abdul-Rashid, 19, were granted bail in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday evening after they were charged with extortion and other offences.

The charges stem from a series of alleged incidents between late 2020 and September this year.

Police allege Narre Warren man Mr Niazi is a long-time patched Comanchero who tried to “coerce” one of two brothers into holding a gun for him.

The alleged victim tried to return the gun after a family member found it but was warned not to bring it to Nitro Gym in Hallam, which Mr Niazi owns, the court was told.

“Are you being a f***ing smart arse? If you keep acting like this I’m going to f***ing kill you,” Mr Niazi allegedly told the man.

He is also accused of threatening one of the alleged victim’s to hand over $50,000 as well as threatening the men in relation to a scheme involving a Lamborghini Gallardo, according to a police summary.

The gang member allegedly demanded the luxury sports car from the alleged victim and is also accused of stealing a $16,000 Audi from one of the brothers.

The 19-year-old Mr Abdul-Rashid, who is Mr Niazi’s nephew is also facing charges of extortion, possessing testosterone, knuckle dusters and assaulting one of the alleged victims in a fight.

Police claim he was tasked with finding one of the alleged victim’s and is accused of bashing him after he “reinforced” the demands.

The pair were charged on Tuesday and during the early-morning raids anti-bikie police allegedly uncovered cash, weapons and steroids at properties in Hallam, Narre Warren and Cranbourne East.

Prosecutors opposed bail because of concerns the men could interfere with witnesses and were a risk of committing further offences.

But magistrate Andrew McKenna granted Mr Niazi and Mr Abdul-Rashid bail on strict conditions including a curfew, sureties, that they could not contact each other or other witnesses.

They will return to court next year.
